'This Is The Order’ magazine was a limited edition quarterly publication that went well beyond what is usually expected from a ‘brand mag’. It was distributed free to members of the Relentless community, who signed up online and through some of the best core sports and fashion outlets in the UK. Initially some were pretty skeptical as the world doesn’t really need another magazine, particularly as they are expensive and resolutely old world tech. However, it’s tactile and also a good read that helps express much of the effort and elegance that Relentless is all about.
This Is The Order was developed in collaboration with The Church of London who I continue to collaborate with on various projects. I worked closely with the editor to shape and commission content, whilst also looking after design and art direction. I aimed to get the balance right between something that would be accessible and intelligent but without being patronising or obscure. The intention was to dig beneath the surface of actions sports, music, arts and culture, past and present to explore an attitude that is common amongst the authentic Artists. Irrespective of time, place and domain, they are connected by the manner in which they pursue their goals. I wanted to broaden horizons and bring great stories of artistry to those who might otherwise not be exposed to them. Each issue is based around a Relentless related theme, beginning with ‘Suffering for Art’, followed by ‘Flesh’ and ‘Sound’.
